SUMMER STEAM MAKERSPACE AT THE LIBRARY! School age children and their families are invited to drop in every Tuesday during August from 5-8 pm at the Miller Library to explore STEAM concepts with the library’s new maker kits. A new kit or two will be set out each week for children to play, learn, and explore a different area of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art or Math. SOLAR ECLIPSE VIEWING PARTY. Children and their families can join us for the partial solar eclipse viewing with glasses provided by Star Library Education Network on Monday, August 21, from 2-4 pm. All ages. Registration required; please call 586-751-5377 to register.

DIY TILE COASTERS. Adults can come express their creativity in a fun and functional way at the Miller Library, on Thursday, August 24, from 6-7:30 pm, by designing and creating a set of four coasters using simple bathroom tiles and Sharpie oil markers. St. Peter's Lutheran Church is hosting a Luther Fest for the 500th Anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation on September 9 from 1:00 - 7:00 pm. Festivities include a Market Square, Wedding Re-enactment, Luther-VonBora Exhibit, puppet show, juggler-magician, games, festival tent, pig roast, live band. Century Charities 9th Annual Charity Golf Outing Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Maple Lane Golf Club.

    The S.E.     FREE supper is open to everyone and will include main entree, salad dessert and beverage. If you need to stretch your budget, want an evening of fellowship or simply don't feel like cooking, come join us the first Wednesday of every month.   • Great Lakes Caring: Compassionate Volunteers Needed!
    Volunteer opportunities with Great Lakes Caring Hospice include: providing companionship to hospice patients; offering pet hterapy (pet training required); assisting with clerical work in our office; sharing your talents (such as music, art, and crafts); providing bereavement or vigil support for patients' families; attending and helping with our Tea to Remember events; interviewing and recording patients with our Life Stories program; and more! We offer: placement in your area; local training; flexible scheduling; opportunities to anyone 17 years of age or older.   • Check Out New Volunteer Opportunities on the "Frontline"
    The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program invites seniors age 55 and older to "just do it"- make the call that can get you connected and change your life. If you have just a few hours a month, you can make life better right where you live. Change young lives by tutoring ormentoring students; help local nonprofit agencies; work in a community garden; get onboard as a hospital volunteer; or help a neighbor to continue to live independently with handyman skills.   • Foster and Adoptive Families Needed
    Methodist Children's Home Society is recruiting foster homes within Macomb County so children who reside in that area can continue to reside there and within the school district once they are placed within foster care.
