Warren Parks and Recreation is now offering a variety of Special Needs Programs.  Below is a current list of activities that are scheduled.

Sports Night        Activity #35220 A
This program is designed to teach basic sports skills and provide socialization.
Who: Individuals who are educable or trainable, mentally impaired and ambulatory physically challenged (12 and under).
Location: Warren Community Center
When: Tuesdays, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.          September 14–December 15
Fee: $65 per person (13 weeks)

Sports Training         Activity #35220 B
Develop your skills, and work on physical conditioning. Sports include:  Basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, and soccer. 
Who: Individuals who are educable or trainable, mentally impaired and ambulatory physically challenged (13 and up).
Location: Warren Community Center
When: Tuesdays, 7:30 - 8:30 p.m.          September 14 – December 15
Fee: $65 per person (13 weeks)

Social Group                Activity #65360 A
The fun and active socializing is continuing! Each week is a creative and different opportunity to get together with peers and enjoy time together just having fun. This program is designed for teens and adults, 13 years of age and up,  who are mentally impaired to have an opportunity to socialize outside the home with one another.  There will be a schedule handed out the first day that lists the planned activities for the entire session.
Location: Warren Community Center
When: Wednesdays, 5:30 – 7 p.m. (times may vary for trips/parties)
Cost: $3-7 each meeting, call for a schedule, 586-268-8400.

Karaoke             Activity #35230 A
Come and join your friends for an evening of singing and dancing!  There will be food and refreshments for sale and a Karaoke machine for you to sing your favorite songs. This Karaoke night is especially for teens and adults with mental and physical disabilities who want to have fun and sing.
Location: Dave’s Cafe inside the Warren Community Center
Who: Persons with disabilities who are 13 and up
Cost: $3 per person, Additional cost for food and beverages from the café.
When: 7 - 8:30 p.m.

Small Group Therapy          Activity #35301
Using recreation therapy to promote appropriate  social skills while also working to increase daily cognitive skills.  This program is designed for individuals with autism and other cognitive impairments, including tramatic brain injuries.
Ages: 4-18 (groups will be divided by ages, three students per group)
Location: Warren Community Center
When: Monday and Thursday, September 20 - October 28           
A.  5 - 6 p.m.          B.  7 - 8 p.m.
Monday and Thursday, November 1 - December 9       
C.  5 - 6 p.m.          D.  7 - 8 p.m.
Cost: $120 per student (two days a week for 6 weeks)
