Warren Community Center

Dear Warren Resident:

“Home to All Generations,” is the theme of this 2010 Official City of Warren Calendar. The theme reflects what we, in city government, have as our priority - to make Warren a cleaner and safer city for residents of all ages.

Accomplishing this goal builds a sense of community pride. As mayor, I want Warren to be known everywhere as “Proud City USA.” We have recently completed our city’s second year of neighborhood blight sweeps, the first neighborhood-by-neighborhood, street-by-street, house-by-house organized cleanup program in the city’s 52 year history. During 2009, our trained inspectors checked 19,499 commercial and resid
ential buildings for blight violations.

To rid our neighborhoods of houses that are dilapidated, we have demolished over 200 buildings unfit for human habitation over a two year period.

I have established a 7-day, 24-hour blight hotline number (586-574-4662) to report neighborhood blight.

Making our city safer is another priority. Our dedicated police force, led by Police Commissioner William Dwyer and Deputy Police Commissioner Jere Green, has been successful in bringing our crime rate down. The Police Department has initiated a Neighborhood Watch Program to encourage residents to work with the police to make our streets safer.

The police have also established a 7-day, 24-hour hotline (586-574-4887) to report any criminal activity.

Yes, our city is progressing in many ways, as people of all ages and backgrounds work together to make Warren a safe and clean “Home to All Generations.” It is an honor serving as your mayor, and please contact me at my office to discuss any city problem or concern. As always, your neighborhood concerns are most important to me. Feel free to call 574-4520 or visit me at City Hall.

Best Wishes,

James R. Fouts

P.S. The U.S. Census is taken every 10 years. Please fill out the Census questionnaire mailed to your residence in February and March. An accurate count of Warren residents means our city qualifies for more monies from state and federal grants.
