The Warren Police Department is providing an initial update on a fatal traffic crash that occurred this morning. The area of Van Dyke Avenue between South Civic Center Boulevard and Kennedy Circle North is currently closed to the public and motorists due to the ongoing investigation.
The preliminary findings indicate that at approximately 6:20 AM on April 30, 2025, officers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Van Dyke Avenue near North Civic Center Drive. A male driver, estimated to be between 50 and 60 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene. A female driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital by the Warren Fire Department.
The initial investigation indicates that a female driving a black Dodge Durango was traveling southbound on Van Dyke near North Civic Center. A male in a silver vehicle, traveling northbound, reportedly lost control and entered the southbound lanes, colliding with the Durango. The Traffic Crash Reconstruction Team is currently on scene investigating. It is unknown at this time if drugs, alcohol, or a medical condition were contributing factors.
