Home | Press Release Archive | AVOID VAN DYKE/12 MILE INTERSECTION INSTEAD SEEK ANOTHER ROUTE – VAN DYKE/12 MILE CONGESTION AND TRAFFIC CONCERNS WILL RESULT IN TICKETS ISSUED FOR IMPATIENT DRIVERS!
Avoid Van Dyke / 12 Mile Intersection instead seek another route – Van Dyke /12 mile congestion and traffic concerns will result in tickets issued for impatient drivers!
Drivers are having stressful challenges involving bottleneck traffic on Van Dyke between 696- and 13-mile road. This is due to a 1.5-mile repair closure between 12 and 14 by MDOT. This has resulted in a jam-up at 12 and Van Dyke causing drivers to have razor-thin patience. Wednesday, two dangerous drivers were so impatient that they drove over the closed construction site causing some additional delay. A worker could have been injured! At the 12-mile intersection, cars going east and west face an impasse because vehicles are stopped at the intersection heading north making it impossible for traffic going east and west to proceed. Large trucks especially are making it difficult for east-west traffic. Please avoid the 12 mile/ Van Dyke intersection and choose another route until this project is completed in about 2-3 weeks. Drivers who block the intersection on 12 mile will be ticketed! Do not cross the intersection unless you know you have room to stop. Impatient drivers who enter the blocked-off construction zone also will be ticketed! Note: This is a Michigan Department of Transportation road project NOT a city of Warren project.
Sincerely,
Mayor James R. Fouts
