Bear Creek Weekend Update
Warren, MI (Feb. 10, 2024) – The site cleanup is now finished at Bear Creek, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has handed over the supervision to state authorities. The storm sewer was cleaned and Unplugged. To slow the movement of sediment, absorbent “pom-poms” were placed in Bear Creek and will stay there while the cleanup inside the plant is done by the potentially responsible party for the contamination.
EGLE is currently overseeing the ongoing cleanup inside the plant located at 24657 Mound, south of 10 Mile Rd. The final sample results will be verified and published on the EPA’s website when they become available.
