Wastewater Treatment
The City’s Wastewater Treatment Facility was originally designed in 1957, since that time it has undergone considerable changes and become one of the leaders in wastewater treatment in the state. The City now has a state of the art treatment plant that has a design capacity of 50 MGD per day and can handle a peak flow during a wet weather event of 100 MGD. The City of Warren Wastewater Treatment Facility regularly treats 22 MGD of wastewater. The average resident creates 350 gallons a day of wastewater. The City’s plant treats that water and the water used by our industries to produce a quality effluent to the waters of the state.
At the City of Warren our IPP staff is committed to identifying and eliminating pollutants from our water ways. One new emerging pollutant that our staff is currently dealing with is called PFAS (Polyfluoroalkyl Substances). The City of Warren is currently in full compliance with the State of Michigan’s discharge levels. For more information please use links below.

- An appointment is required. Hours are Monday through Friday, excluding Holidays, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

at 1-877-679-4337 and report the activity.
Be Alert to Water Service Line Coverage: Some companies are offering water sewer line insurance coverage to Warren residents by mail. Be advised that the City has nothing to do with these solicitations and strongly urges its citizens to carefully investigate the companies, services provided, and costs thereof to determine if it is in their best interest to purchase such coverage. The city has no recommendation on this matter.
