Older homes are more likely to contain lead-based paint, which can pose serious health risks for occupants, particularly children under 6.

Homeowner-occupants: Income-eligible Warren homeowner-occupants whose home was built before 1978 and either 1) house a pregnant woman OR 2) host a child under 6 for significant time may qualify for free renovations, as necessary, to ensure the home is lead-safe, sanitary, and secure for all occupants. Landlords and Property Managers: If you’d like help verifying your pre-1978 rental property is lead-safe, the City of Warren’s Lead Hazard Control program may be able to help. Through the program, qualifying rental homes may be eligible for a FREE comprehensive lead inspection/risk assessment and, if necessary, 90% of the costs to make the home lead-safe for good.
