Home | Press Release Archive | MAYOR FOUTS DECLARES SNOW EMERGENCY EFFECTIVE 8PM TONIGHT
I have officially issued a Snow Emergency for 8 PM tonight. With the anticipation of upwards of 8 inches or so and snow starting after 5 PM it will be snowing one inch an hour for 5-6 hours. So please have all vehicles removed from the street so that DPW can plow the snow off without any obstacle. Try to remove your vehicle now! Why wait for several inches of snow?
DPW has been instructed to work round the clock this weekend until all snow has been plowed off our streets. They will work in several shifts with the first one being tonight and the second full shift will be at 7 AM to 3:30 PM. It will be 16-hour shifts.
This will be a wet heavy snow so take care if you attempt to shovel your sidewalk or shovel your car out of this blizzard. Winds will be high and with the wet heavy snow there could be outages again with DTE lines breaking down. I will be in contact with DPW tonight and adjust if necessary. This is a potentially dangerous snow so don’t exert yourself and help out elderly neighbors or those disabled! I will also be in contact with DTE and Police.
Sincerely,
Mayor Jim Fouts
