Home | Press Release Archive | ALL MEDIA FOR IMMEDIATE DISTRIBUTION – CITY OF WARREN – 9 MILE ROAD CLOSING OCTOBER 26, 2020 IN THE CITY OF WARREN AS PART OF BASEMENT FLOODING RELIEF
Warren will be closing 9 mile east between Hoover and Van Dyke starting on Monday, October 26, 2020. This will be the final step in the 9 mile sewer relief project. This is part of the sewer relief and detention basin project that should be done late next summer and, is part of the larger $80 million project to substantially reduce basement flooding in Warren and sanitary sewage overflows to the Red Run Drain.
This project reflects my commitment to end the devastating effects of flooding on the basements of many victims in Warren. This will also protect our pristine waterways via the Red Run Drain.
No other city in the immediate metro area has done anything regarding building a detention basin to give people relief from flooded basements. Pump station renovations are under contract as well and will be completed by March 2022.
I’m very proud of the leadership and expertise in this project by Warren Waste Treatment Director Bryan Clor as well as the assistance and expertise of Warren City Engineer Jim VanHavermaat.
Quality of life in one’s home is important to me and our administration is committed to making sure neighborhood homes are not flooded so as to allow a high quality of life in Warren neighborhoods. This protects local waterways and fisheries as well for all to enjoy! Serving and protecting Warren residents remains my overall commitment and objective!
