Home | Press Release Archive | CITY OF WARREN TO LIGHT UP IN TEAL TONIGHT TO RECOGNIZE NATIONAL ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE AWARENESS MONTH
In recognition of National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month (NADAM) and National Caregivers Month, the City of Warren will light its City Hall in teal at dusk today, Thursday, November 4 until dawn tomorrow, Friday, November 5.
This is part of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America’s (AFA) annual Light the World in Teal initiative for Alzheimer’s Awareness Month. The City of Warren is proud to raise awareness of this disease that affects more than 5.8 million Americans and over 50 million people worldwide. People in and around Warren are encouraged to snap photos and post them to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram using the hashtag #AFALightTheWorldInTeal.
We understand that, unfortunately, dementia is a growing epidemic in our city, state, and nation. By lighting up our City Hall in teal, we want to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s and dementia as well as let area residents know that we are thinking about them, support them and stand by them in their fight against this terrible disease.
For more information about Alzheimer’s disease, to get support from licensed social workers, or to get a free memory screening, call AFA’s Helpline at 866-232-8484, visit www.alzfdn.org. or visit alz.org/gmc or call the Alzheimer’s Association 24/7 Helpline at 800.272.3900 today.
Sincerely,
Mayor James R. Fouts
