Home | Press Release Archive | Classic Christmas TV Programs Will Be Aired on TV Warren December 20-January 3
Following a recommendation by Warren Mayor Jim Fouts, TV Warren, the city’s cable TV station, will air classic Christmas programs dating back to the 50’s and 60’s.
Forty programs will be aired continuously from December 20 – January 3.
Among the programs are Colgate Comedy Hour with Bob Hope, Perry Como Christmas Show, George Burns and Gracie Allen Christmas Show, Your Hit Parade, Buick and Berle Christmas Show, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis Christmas Show, various Christmas episodes of Ozzie and Harriet, Red Skelton Christmas Show, The Christmas Carol narrated by actor Vincent Price, plus segments featuring Abbott and Costello and Howdy Doody, and much much more.
Fouts said the idea of around-the-clock classic Christmas TV programs “came from numerous Warren residents who wanted programs with Christmas themes that featured family values, time-honored Christmas music and genuine comedy.”
“You won’t find these types of Christmas TV programs on TV today,” said Fouts. “It’s nostalgia at its best.”
Fouts also recently mailed a large Christmas card to Warren residents reminiscing about Christmas shopping when he was a youngster growing up in Hazel Park. “I remember shopping in Royal Oak, Downtown Detroit and Highland Park to find gifts for my family members and enjoying a hot fudge sundae at Sanders,” said Fouts.
TV Warren channels are: AT&T U-Verse channel 99; Comcast Xfinity channels 5 & 12; and Wide Open West channels 10 & 18. Web site: www.cityofwarren.org.
